So I come home to find a box at our front door. I pick it up and immediately recognize that it is from Cabella's!!! I play it off like I didn't notice and place the box in the kitchen and it disappears a little while later.
So...what do you think is in the box? I am guessing that it is something that will further soldify my Master Caster status...or maybe it is a special Muskie Hunter kit that will make sure I don't wake up in the middle of the night with cramped up legs from dehydration. Maybe it is "Fishing for Dummies"...god knows I could use that.
Whattya think?

CANADIAN DREAMIN
'Twas 6-months before Lac Seul and all through their brains, not a thought was stirring but will it rain;
The gear's been pulled out the inventory complete, off to shop now there are no deletes;
Ice coming in wave another season goodbye, for MH5 months of dreaming of plump golden Walleye;
The holidays now upon us leaving no time to spare, makes it easy to reminisce of clear Canadian air;By planes they will travel and hope with all might, they don't again end up driving all night;
Away to Knobby's with excitement and glee, 10 thirsty fisherman march off with secret hopes of no injury;
A little push of the cargo there a pull of the rope here, it's time to go Badger's in the rear;

At 5000 feet water abound turn to the left then to the right, and Tom's Cabin comes just into sight;
One after one the Walleye hammer the bait, do you continue to jig or cast and wait;
Grab the Stowmaster and try not to trip, net this bastard or you know who is gonna flip;
Loud music a plenty when arriving back at camp, on the large cabin wall who'll be written the champ:
This pattern it repeats for 4 days and 3 nights, the only concern fried Walleye and resulting outhouse plight;
With a crazy cannuck pilot so hungover and sick, we all say a quick prayer that we again land softly on the slick;
Up up and away goes the General Lee of the sky, with 10 suburban combatants hoping not to die;
Down down we go with a quick sense of urgency, Gary out on the dock and we land softly;
Like hungry creatures from the deep we gaze out at the view, and see those before us who will depart with a peehew;
Stash all of the stuff make your bed if you wish, the guys are on the lawn preparing to fish;
4 or 5 sturdy poles fixed with Jigs, Mepps and Cowgirls, are placed in the boat and headed looking for swirls;
Is it Wapesi, Sunday Bay, Bardo Island or Cooter Cove, go find your beasts may they come in droves;
One after one the Walleye hammer the bait, do you continue to jig or cast and wait;Sit back with a cold one silence all around, the wind in the trees the only real sound;
Suddenly a scream from the new Abu Revo, what must that be pulling and shaking the line below;
It's here, the rush we long for the anticipation and mystery, what rises to the surface could it be;
That which you dreamt of for those many nights, the fish of a lifetime oh what a sight;
A large toothy creature held tight you will see, while sipping cocktails New Year watching Harlow's TV;
Reel up the lines it's been 15 hrs of fun, its time to boat home amid the disappearing sun;
Loud music a plenty when arriving back at camp, on the large cabin wall who'll be written the champ:Cooking and chores we'll quickly get them done, for it's time for more Lac Vegas cheating and fun;
The last day is upon us were exhausted but no matter, the records still out there which will we shatter;
Back in the dark silent work begins bags packed tubes taped, sleep fast then sit and wait;
Otters back and cars are packed MH6 has been booked, its obvious were hooked!
Joke of the Day
A man was on the water for his annual fishing trip. He began his day
with an 36 inch pike on the first cast and a 38-incher on the second.
On the third cast he had just caught his first ever pike over 45 inches
when his cell phone rang.
It was a doctor notifying him that his wife had just been in a
terrible accident and was in critical condition and in the ICU. The man told
the doctor to inform his wife where he was and that he'd be there as soon
as possible. As he hung up he realized he was leaving what was shaping up
to be his best day ever on the water.
He decided to get in a couple of more casts before heading to the
hospital He ended up fishing the rest of the morning, finishing his
trip with a stringer like he'd never seen, with three pike over 40 inches.
He was jubilant!
Then he remembered his wife. Feeling guilty, he dashed to the
hospital. He saw the doctor in the corridor and asked a bout his wife's
condition.
The doctor glared at him and shouted, 'You went ahead and finished
your fishing trip didn't you! I hope you're proud of yourself! While you
were out for the past four hours enjoying yourself on the pond, your wife
has been languishing in the ICU! It's just as well you went ahead and
finished, because it will be, more than likely, the last fishing trip
you ever take!'
'For the rest of her life she will require 'round the clock care. And
you'll be her care giver forever!'
The man was feeling so guilty he broke down and sobbed.
The doctor then chuckled and said, 'I'm just messin' with you. She's
dead. What'd you catch?'

Road Trip to Bass Pro
Need a road trip in January to Bass Pro. Need to spend $500 to keep up with Smut, I mean Giant Killer
It's ON!
First of all, I'm very jealous of the new equipment, Smut. It will be a true shame when Burkie steps on your rod and the end with your new reel attached plunges to the depths of Lac Seul.
I'm very happy to hear that many of you are taking the Big Fish Contest seriously! We're all aware that it really hasn't been a "contest" for several years, so it might do Big Fish good to have a little pressure on him this year. Since I think it will take a true monster to win the contest this year (50" plus), I've decided to add a key piece of equipment to my arsenal. No, it's not a new rod, reel, or fancy sparkling lure. A picture speaks a thousand words, so all I can say to my boat partners is to START PRACTICING NOW!
Also, Poco (soon to be Grande), I understand that you are in the market for a new reel. Based on your fishing prowess and experience, this is what I recommend...
Smutty going large for MH5

Thanks Lac Vegas for getting the ball rolling on MH5. Its really the first meaningful thing that you have accomplished since organizing the hotly contested Liar's Dice tournament in MH3. I am sure that your music mix would have also been a highlight had it not ended up sleeping with the fishes under Anderson's dock. Even though you could not attend MH4 because you were unemployed and trying to pay off the negative equity in the Iowa custom "midget built" river front home you mistakenly purchased, the least you could have done is sent along your music and saved us from Cooter's All Shinedown All the Time Nightmarish Musky Mix. Perhaps you will make up for it this year??? I think there is a job open for someone who sleeps ~30 minutes per night, wakes everyone up to the smell of sausage, eggs and blueberry pancakes, catches 100 walleye, then finishes the day off with a gourmet home cooked wasabi encrusted walleye with pineapple chutney.
Anyway...most of you know me as a former Big Fish Grand Champion, slayer of Walleye and the brilliant mind behind the world's first dual inside/outside 100" Muskie Vision Theater of MH4. This year, I will be adding "Giant Killer" to this list of accolades.
In addition to the always deadly Hawg Wobbler and Top Raider (aka Blub Blub Blub) I have recently upgraded my arsenal in anticipation of a showdown with one or several of these elusive toothy bastards in MH5. You can see my latest weapons in this pursuit pictured. A couple of Bulldawgs, Double Cowgirls, a Showgirl, a Musky Marabou and another spinner so secret and deadly that I can not reveal it until it is clipped on the flouro leader on Lac Seul ready to slap the water. My partner in this quest will be the legendary Abu Garcia Revo Toro HS 60 paired with my already stellar "Pete Mania" IM6 Musky Rod.
Of course, I am fully aware that superior tackle is not enough to guarantee boating one of these bad boys. As Burkie and Big Fish taught us last year...To catch the Musky, you must learn to think like the Musky. Well, I guess Burkie must have been thinking like a baby Musky...but I digress.
Looking forward to another great trip.

Hello Anglers!!!
Lac Vegas, here. I was in Ottawa last week and the sleet was hitting my face sideways and the wind was ripping holes in my cheeks and I just couldn't help thinking about my first Muskie Hunter trip. So, I started this blog. This is a place for us to post messages, share pictures, make fun of Big Fish and get pumped about Canada 2011.
